Online employment ads for nurses, computer systems analysts and retail staffers topped Sacramento's help-wanted lists, while health networks led the way in employers' job postings, according to the state's Employment Development Department.
The Sacramento metropolitan area data, from the EDD's Help Wanted OnLine report, was from July, the latest month available.

The report captured online job advertisements for California's 28 metropolitan statistical areas as of July 1.
Registered nurses were most in demand, with 1,278 online postings, nearly double that of computer systems analysts (673). Postings for retail salespeople (529) were third.

Health networks Kaiser Permanente and Sacramento-based Sutter Health, two of the area's major employers, topped the list of employers' job postings.

Kaiser posted 421 jobs online while Sutter Health advertised 316 jobs, according to the report.
Information technology firm ACS, a Xerox company, offered the third-most postings with 227 jobs.
Sacramento led the list of cities with the most job postings with 14,325, followed by Roseville (1,744), Rancho Cordova, (1,451), Folsom (1,257) and West Sacramento (658), the EDD reported.

In all, nearly 25,000 online jobs were posted in the Sacramento area, slightly more than at the same time last year, but a shadow of the region's pre-recession peak.

More than 140,000 jobs were posted online at the same time in 2007, according to the report.
