Inland lawmakers' bills on way to governor
Lawmakers headed off on their summer recess this week, after sending several bills by Inland Southern California lawmakers to Gov. Jerry Brown's desk.
Friday, Brown signed several measures, including SB 918 by state Sen. Joel Anderson, R-Alpine. The measure will change the election schedule for directors of mutual water companies.
Here's a rundown of other Inland bills awaiting the governor's consideration (with description courtesy of Statenet):
AB 61 (Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, R-Lake Elsinore): Authorizes the County of Riverside or any city in the county to establish a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle transportation plan for a plan area that may include any applicable portion of the county or city subject to penalties in existing law. Requires the submission of the plan for review and approval. Requires a report to the Legislature if the county adopts a plan.
AB 82 (Jeffries): Authorizes the operation of firefighting equipment by either a person with a firefighter endorsement who holds a class C license, a restricted class A license, or a noncommercial class B driver's license, or by a person holding a class A or B license, as appropriate for that equipment.
AB 316 (Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter, D-Rialto): Provides that every person who steals, takes, or carries away copper materials which exceed a specified value, is guilty of grand theft, punishable by a fine, imprisonment in a county jail, or both, or by imprisonment in the state prison, and a fine.
AB 1091 (Assemblyman Mike Morrell, R-Rancho Cucamonga): Amends the Contractor's State License Law that authorizes the Registrar of the State Contractor's License Board to accept petitions from licensees disputing matters related to disassociation. Revises and recasts those provisions by specifying that the notification be provided within 90 days after the date of disassociation, and to accept a petition for one extension to replace the qualifier under limited circumstances. Imposes specified requirements related to that submittal.
SB 235 (State Sen. Gloria Negrete McLeod, D-Chino): Authorizes a water conservation district with a board of directors consisting of 7 directors, to reduce the number of directors to 5, consistent with specified requirements. Provides that these provisions do not apply to districts within the County of Ventura.
SB 741 (State Sen. Bob Dutton, R-Rancho Cucamonga): Deletes the sunset date for the Alternative Protest Pilot Project, which provides for alternative protest procedures in connection with state agency acquisitions of goods and services, including the acquisition of information technology goods and services.
AB 13x (Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez, D-Coachella): Authorizes the Department of Fish and Game to implement endangered species impact mitigation actions for proposed wind and geothermal powerplants in the planning area subject to the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan. Requires the department to collect a project permit application fee. Expands the definition of eligible projects.
